Steve Berry, NY Times and International Best Selling Author says:
"Here's a voice that's original, animated, and refreshing. Tom Gauthier definitely knows what he's writing about --- and it shows. You're there, amidst the action, feeling, hearing, even smelling the tension. Enjoy the adventure."
You can see from these pictures that I get pretty wrapped up in my story lines—either drawing from past experience or seeking out new experiences to record in my writing.
So, ready or not, here’s the stuffy stuff about me by way of introduction:
Over many decades I’ve written nearly every form of business and training communication, been published on various subjects in newspapers and national and international journals, and authored, produced and directed four plays. Then when I retired in 2000 and took up the serious study of writing books, my first novel, Code Name: ORION’S EYE, resulted and was released in 2008. It has become something of a cult favorite with World War II veterans and their families—especially those who fought in the South Pacific.
My second novel, A VOYAGE BEYOND REASON, received a “Notable Award for Mainstream Literary Fiction” in the 17th Annual International Writer’s Digest Book Award competition (2009). Introduced on national television during the finale of the CBS TV series, Survivor-Tocantins by the subject of the book, Benjamin Wade aka “Coach”, a three-time star of the popular TV show, A VOYAGE BEYOND REASON continues into its second edition published by ToMar Associates Publishing, Reno, Nevada.
In 2020 novel #7 was published, available on amazon. The list now includes:
Code Name: ORION'S EYE,
A VOYAGE BEYOND REASON,
MEAD'S TREK,
DIE LISTE-Revenge on the Black Sun,
FORCE THREE RISES,
BLIND To EVIL,
THE SILK CONNECTION,
Saga of the 1st Fighter Control Squadron, a unit history from WWII.
Born in 1940 in California, I grew up after the war in Santa Barbara. As I like to say, “Growing up in the 40’s and 50’s in Santa Barbara was a real life episode of Happy Days.” After high school, I served first in the US Army as a combat intelligence analyst and later in the Air Force Reserve as a Loadmaster on a C-119, “Flying Boxcar.” That last assignment was more fun than should be considered legal!
In 1966 I began a civilian career that took me to every corner of the U.S., Canada and 20 other countries. During that time and with the support of my employer I decided to catch up on the education I’d never started. In the ensuing years I earned a Bachelor of Science in Management, an M.B.A., and a Master of Science and Doctorate in Psychology. I’m a proud member of Delta Epsilon Tau, an international honors society.
Besides making writing a primary focus in retirement, I continue to consult with organizations and governments on organizational and communications issues. I’m a private pilot, and member of the American Legion and the Commemorative Air Force.
With my wife of forty-six years, Marlene, we built our dream home on a small ranch in the eastern High Sierras of Northern California. After nearly eighteen years of retirement there we decided a second life was in order, so we now reside in Reno, Nevada, and are continuing to live the dream of writing, traveling, and making new friends. We enjoy the visits of thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren--just not all at once.
